What a year 2020 has been.
Whichever tier you find yourself in I hope you have a peaceful Christmas. Perhaps early 2021 will bring more lockdowns and further restrictions before a vaccine can lead us out of this once in a hundred years pandemic…let’s hope…
Reflecting upon a year of ups and downs, I wonder what we have learned?
Here are my reflections on 2020 for what they are worth…
Bigger is not always better…
TWP is a smaller organisation than it was; it is leaner and more capable, thus proving the above maxim. We’ve worked hard at making our business relevant to all of our clients. We want to preserve and ensure that the financial and business advice we offer is first class and is backed up by a service that we are proud to deliver.
Work-life balance does not exist…
Ah yes, the elusive work-life balance we all yearn for? My own reflection is that perhaps this does not exist; the boundaries of work and home and work again are as blurred as they’ve ever been; it turns out when we are flat out doing ‘important stuff’, sometimes we are not that efficient at all…turns out work and life merge together into one. I think we at TWP have become more connected and more together in 2020 than ever before and I understand more about each and every one of my colleague’s hopes and dreams which helps us all get stuff done with greater relevance to our clients.
Great people are the key…
As if we need any reminder of this? At TWP I feel blessed and lucky in this regard. To a man and woman they’ve risen to every challenge this year in spite and despite the barriers before them. When I am able (and it is lawful), I intend to take them all to the pub and say thank you properly. Being one team of many moving parts has to start with a client-centric orientation – otherwise who is it all for? I am delighted that we all share this north star.
Look forward, not backwards…
Look at where we all are now. We’ve had an interesting year, to say the least since first we all heard of a small place called Wuhan and yet we’re all still here and getting on with it – that is no mean feat. My own reflections are that it is not about where we were yesterday as 2020 has all been about (always) moving forward.
So there we are…a year review in 2 minutes…
TWP are off for a break from Christmas Eve until the 4th January 2021. If you need any of us over that time we are around and our website has all of our contact details.
All that remains is for me to wish you all a peaceful Christmas and a New Year full of promise.
Go safe.
